Case Studies

We form an impression of the project, then give it expression. We design posters, curate exhibitions and lay out the catalogs that go with them. We do field research and bind it into a book, or put a video channel online. We give people the voices and tools they need to get involved in the world they want to live in. We design communication, comprehensively and completely.

From History to Nowness

For the first time, Preußischer Kulturbesitz foundation publishes their annual reports 2016 and 2017. Each of them deals with a focal topic that is of importance to the cultural institution. There are questions asked, philosophical and artistic positions are taken and a discussion is opened, which will be continued in the upcoming publications.

Inbetween future and past

Wolfenbüttel's Herzog August library is steeped in history: it used to be a national library in the 17th century and was once considered a wonder of the world. We created an elegant and contemporary visual appearance for this modern location of research and science.

A part of the Whole

Kulturland Brandenburgs theme year title for 2018 is „Europe in Brandenburg, Brandenburg in Europe“ and explores the region in its European context. Since 2009 we have been creating campaigns and visual appearances for Brandenburg theme years.

Call for Members

Im September ist die zweite Auflage des Kulturförderwettbewerbs »Call for Members« erfolgreich zu Ende gegangen. Zum zweiten Mal haben wir die Kulturstiftung des Bundes dabei unterstützt, Kulturvereine in den neuen Bundesländern dazu zu motivieren, insgesamt fast 3.000 neue Mitglieder zu werben.

Utopias, Pioneers, Future

After two years in exile, Parkaue, Berlins National Youth Theatre returns to its freshly renovated venue. Just as fresh and altogether new is the theatre’s visual appearance. Maxime Balesteros captured the ensemble amidst Berlin’s urban jungle. We wish you a pleasant flight!

Luther! 95 Schätze – 95 Menschen

Luther put up his 95 theses in Wittenberg 500 years ago. On the occasion of this year’s Reformationsjubiläum (Anniversairy of Reformation) a special exhibition has been envisioned to take place in nationwide settings. “Studio Neue Museen”- our partnership with Complizen Plangsbüro (urban development office) created the exhibition at the order of Sachsen Anhalt’s Luther memorial foundation. Dr. Catherine Nichols was in charge of curation.

#Bildungsereignis Reformation!

Marburgs Museum for Art and Art History is showing the “#Bildungsereignis Reformation! Ideen- Krisen- Wirkungen” exhibition (Reformation as Educational Happening! Ideas- Crises-Impacts) at Marburg castle. Curated by Christina Schlag and created by Studio Neue Museen, the exhibition delves into interrelations of Reformation and Education.

Our approach to the re-design of Francke’s corporate design merges equally the foundations rich history and their progressive aspirations.

Du bist frei

Within the process of developing a new corporate design for the foundation »Franckesche Stiftungen zu Halle« we also designed an advertising campaign for an exhibition curated by our client. Besides booklets, a guide and invitations we designed a billboard campaign.

The Centre for Art and Urban Space ZKR at Biesdorf castle is Berlins newest institution for contemporary art and architecture in urban and spatial contexts. We give this place a Corporate Design that is minimalistic and spacious.

Neue Standards

In 2016 we created catalogue and key visual for the »Neue Standards. Zehn Thesen zum Wohnen« (New Standards. Ten Propositions for Living/Housing) exhibition of DAZ (Centre of German Architecture).

A brand workshop had us working with Trier theatre's team to find out what they value and strive for. Our strategy aims to give them a visible regionale stance. During a time where many German municipal theatre houses are losing relevance in public perceiption, Trier theatre wants to be agile, brave and responsive.

Room Service

In 2014, the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden presented »Room Service«, an exhibition about the hotel in art and artists in hotels. The accompanying catalog was designed by us and has been honored with design awards from Red Dot and the TDC.

Wamiki Magazin

»wamiki« is a magazine for educators we started working for in late 2014. We created their wordmark so it would semantically and visually draw from their publishing houses brand name »Was mit Kindern«. Our editorial design was awarded as one of the best magazine concepts of 2015 by the Art Directors Club Germany.

GRIPS for All

When Stefan Fischer-Fels took over as the new artistic director of Berlin’s GRIPS Theater, we took on the redesign of its visual identity. For the legendary empowerment theater we mixed up a bright neon red and focused its communications on the here and now while still maintaining its signature visual style.

The German government foundation for culture Kulturstiftung des Bundes (KSB) opened a stock called »Stadtgefährten« which holds 3.8 Million Euros and encourages small town museums to join a national network cooperation. Thus, we developed an innovative study course to travel across Germany.

For Explorers

In 2013, the Deutsches Technikmuseum celebrated its 30th birthday. The museum’s foundation, which also supports four other cultural institutions, commissioned us to create a new corporate design. We started things off with a branding workshop and got to work defining a clear position.

The Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften (Night of the Sciences) in Berlin und Potsdam is »the smartest night of the year«: a hugely popular event and an annual fixture on the calendars of both cities. In 2013, we redesigned its visual identity and created an advertising campaign for it.

Grenze, welche Grenze?

In 2009 we headed out into the field on a mission from the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. Our assignment was to research, design and organize a traveling exhibition of exemplary international projects – commercial, cultural and social – along the German-Polish border.

Creative Industries Report Berlin

The Berlin Senate commissioned us to design the look of its third report on the city’s creative industries. The resulting publication was an extended editorial featuring general information on the economic significance of creative enterprise in Berlin, plus statements from many of the people involved.

In 2010, the Ruhr district (aka »Ruhrpott«) was designated a European Capital of Culture. We were hired to create a networking project in collaboration with local youth theaters. With Pottfiction, we brought a small and temporary world to life, in which young people would set their own coordinates for a better tomorrow.

The Zumtobel Group AG, the world’s leading supplier of integrated lighting solutions, was looking for groundbreaking new ideas in the field of open architecture. We worked together with Dutch design studio one/one on an international research project.
