Wolfenbüttel’s Federal Academy for Cultural Education is a hub for art makers and those who bring their work to the public. Offering regular conferences and workshops, it is Germany’s forum for public discourse on cultural policies and professions. Its six divisions also provide continuing education for arts workers. Historically, this work has produced a great deal of knowledge but not much of a visual identity.
Casestudy Category: Editorial
We do editorial design. We make printed materials more visually expressive – from layout to cover, from typesetting to typography, from business cards to outdoor posters. We turn books, brochures, annual reports, theatre schedules, catalogues and posters into powerful print products. Many of them are award winners.
Psyche and Politics
Today, social and political processes reach more deeply than ever before into the most intimate spheres of human life. New communication structures transmit nonstop news and images directly into our inner worlds. This transformation was the subject of Psyche and Politics, a 2019 exhibition at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden.
A Clear-Eyed Look at Cultural Diversity
What is »socioculture«? What shape is it, what color? In our opinion, it all starts with people – the source of all creativity, connection and social transformation. Our corporate design for the Landesverband Soziokultur Niedersachen, an association of over 100 sociocultural organizations, grabs the attention of political stakeholders, reflects socioculture’s diversity and speaks to a new target audience of digital nomads.
From Coins to Culture
Built in 1936 to house Berlin’s new mint, the Alte Münze complex produced four different currencies before being shut down in 2005. Only the dark vaults in the spacious cellars, the three chimneys and the barred windows still recall the buildings’ industrial past. For the last 10 years or so, the former factory between Alexanderplatz and Fischerinsel has been used as an event, exhibition and work space.
wamiki Magazine
wamiki is a magazine for educators. Our first job for them was to create a wordmark that would draw both semantically and visually on the name of their parent company, Was mit Kindern (Something with Kids). In 2015, the Art Directors Club of Germany named our editorial design one of the year’s best magazine concepts.
About Exhibitions
Exhibiting the Exhibition, at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, explored exhibiting as a cultural technology. From Renaissance-era cabinets of curiosities to today’s curatorial situation, it took in works of art, museum displays, picture frames and historical catalogs. The catalog we designed for it was awarded the Deutsche Designer Club’s Gute Gestaltung award for 2019.
